Technical Design and Construction for Construction Field Personnel

This pre-recorded webinar is designed to give field construction personnel a basic understanding of the Best Management Practices that are commonly used to control and reduce erosion and sedimentation from storm water runoff on construction sites. The proper use and placement of BMPs, along with the critical details of construction will be presented. In addition, the webinar will address the administrative aspects of the NPDES (and state issued) permit process that must be performed in the field. These processes include proper inspection and record keeping, and maintenance and control of documents that are required to be kept on site. This webinar is targeted to all levels of field personnel expertise. Junior level field mangers will derive a basic knowledge of the NPDES requirements, while more experienced field managers will receive instruction that will allow them to better analyze the erosion and sedimentation control design for a project and make them a more effective “last check” on each project’s compliance with the DPDES, or state issued permit.

This technical presentation will cover the testing and specifying of Rolled Erosion Control Products based on ASTM standardized test methods. This presentation will describe and recommend test methods that should be used to evaluate Rolled Erosion Control Products for quality, uniformity, and performance. In addition, data will be presented that correlates testing of material properties to field performance characteristics. Attendees will learn of the effort by the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP) to create a nationwide system of testing requirements for Rolled Erosion Control Products, and how this effort has created a knowledge base of data derived from standardized test methods that allows end users, manufacturers, and designers to determine which Rolled Erosion Control Product is appropriate for use on any given construction site.
