This course has been developed to familiarize participants with the concepts of polymers and how they can be used for Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) on construction sites. The course is intended for developers, consultants, municipalities, landowners or anyone looking to learn about polymers and apply them for ESC. This course consists of six modules that discuss the basic concepts of polymers, soil stabilization with anionic polyacrylamide (PAM), PAM based stormwater clarification applications, additional PAM enhanced sediment controls, PAM assisted pond dredging, and anionic PAM application guidance for urban construction.

One of the biggest ongoing challenges facing the erosion control and revegetation industries is the lack of healthy soil as a starting point on a project, as nearly all project sites are stripped down to nutritionally deficient subsoil layers incapable of supporting vegetation. This presentation will provide full details on what constitutes healthy soil in addition to providing comprehensive information about BST’s. Further and more importantly, this presentation will determine if BST are actually impacting soil health. In particular, multiple project sites that have been evaluated for various soil health parameters prior to and after BST application will be presented to determine soil health impacts.

Technical Design and Construction for Construction Field Personnel

This pre-recorded webinar is designed to give field construction personnel a basic understanding of the Best Management Practices that are commonly used to control and reduce erosion and sedimentation from storm water runoff on construction sites. The proper use and placement of BMPs, along with the critical details of construction will be presented. In addition, the webinar will address the administrative aspects of the NPDES (and state issued) permit process that must be performed in the field. These processes include proper inspection and record keeping, and maintenance and control of documents that are required to be kept on site. This webinar is targeted to all levels of field personnel expertise. Junior level field mangers will derive a basic knowledge of the NPDES requirements, while more experienced field managers will receive instruction that will allow them to better analyze the erosion and sedimentation control design for a project and make them a more effective “last check” on each project’s compliance with the DPDES, or state issued permit.
